The Corniche is the jewel of Ajman. Stretching along the pristine coast, it is the center of tourism and leisure in the emirate. With its white sandy beaches and lined palm trees, it offers a resort-like atmosphere that contrasts beautifully with the busy city streets behind it.
The Tourist Shore
Historically, this coast was the launching point for dhow builders and fishermen. Today, the shipyards have moved, replaced by 5-star hotels and luxury apartments. The Corniche redevelopment has turned it into a modern promenade that rivals any in the UAE.
The Corniche comes alive at night. Families gather for barbecues on the sand, and the walkway is filled with people enjoying the sea breeze. It is the most social place in Ajman.
Despite the modernization, you can still see the history at the nearby Ajman Museum, located in an 18th-century fort just a short walk from the waterfront.
The Corniche Road is the main artery here, offering a scenic drive right by the sea. Parking is available along the service roads and in designated lots near the hotels.
Taxis are abundant here due to the hotels. It is also a great place for walking, especially in the winter months. You can easily walk from the museum area to the dining spots along the beach.
