Bur Dubai, Dubai
Sitting on the western bank of the Creek, Bur Dubai is the historic counterweight to Deira. It is a district where time seems to slow down, allowing visitors to walk through the restored wind towers of Al Fahidi and experience a lifestyle that predates the modern skyscrapers.
The Living Museum
Bur Dubai historically served as the ruling center of the emirate and the home of the governing families. While Deira was the commercial hub, Bur Dubai was the administrative heart. Today, it retains a distinct cultural vibe, housing the Dubai Museum and the textile district, keeping the old stories alive.

The Text Souk remains a focal point of the area. Unlike the shiny malls, this market offers a tactile experience where you can feel fabrics from around the world, surrounded by the chatter of tailors and traders.
The connection to the water is vital here. The Abra station provides a direct link to the spice markets across the water, continuing a centuries-old tradition of movement between the two halves of the old city.
Bur Dubai is incredibly well-connected. The Green Line of the Dubai Metro services the area heavily, with Al Ghubaiba and Sharaf DG stations placing you right in the middle of the heritage sites. Taxis are also plentiful near the souks.
For a scenic route, taking the water bus or a traditional Abra from Deira is the best way to arrive. It drops you right at the edge of the souk, just a short walk from our dining location.
